Festival at Bario, Kelabit Highland from Mar 8 - 16

KUCHING: Those who love good foods, good company, tropical rainforests and enjoy adventure, are invited to join The Bario and Kelabit Highlands Food and Cultural Festival 2008.

The celebration will take place in Bario, Kelabit Highlands from March 8 – 16, and the 10-day event will feature various interesting activities.

The celebration is mainly about celebration of food, farming, forest and cultural heritage in the highlands, which has been called the Green Heart of Borneo.

Activities to take place include a two-day village harvest homecoming for a family experience, a three-day programme of highland food tasting at the Balai community hall and longhouses, forest talks and a two-day highland food fare and community feast.

Besides food, other activities such as blowpipe, jumping and tests of strength will take place under the Highlands games activity.

Co-organised by the Highland Women’s Groups and Churches in association with the Highland committee members, Bario Nature Guides, Bario homestay, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak and ebario, the festival is also supported by the Sarawak Tourism Board and the State government.
