China tops tourist arrivals in SarawakKUCHING: A total of 4,807,604 tourists arrived in the State from January to March this year, compared to 4,379,338 in the same period last year. In March 2007, China performed the best with a 67.9% growth. Double-digit growth was also recorded for arrivals from Brunei (43.4%), Canada (34.5%), Bangladesh (28.9%), India (27.4%), South Korea ( 27.2%), New Zealand (26.8%), Poland (26.0%), Russia (24.3%), the Phillipines (23.6%), Taiwan (20.7%), Indonesia (19.1%), France (16.9%), Japan (16.4%), the Netherlands ( 16.3%), Vietnam ( 15.9%), West Asia (14.2%), Germany (13.6%), Australia (13.4%), South Africa (11.5%), Switzerland (11.4%) and Singapore (10.0%), according to a statement from the communications division of Tourism Malaysia. Meanwhile, the top ten tourist-generating markets from January to March this year were Singapore (2,568,574), Thailand (418,895), Indonesia (375,570), Brunei (204,060), China (174,842), Japan (104,688), India ( 79,075), Australia (78,480), the United Kingdom (77,599) and the Phillipines (64,102).
