Damail Lagoon Resort to be rebranded as
Damai Puri Resort and SPA, Kuching

Damai Puri Hotels & Resorts has recently taken over the ownership and management of Damai Lagoon Resort, rebranding the resort as the Damai Puri Resort & Spa, Kuching.

Renovations to the Resort, located along the beachfront at the Damai Peninsula will commence on April 1st 2007 and will be completed by July 2007. The property will be closed for this period to facilitate the redevelopment and refurbishment of 200 rooms, suites and the Damai Puri Club Floor. Construction on the entirely new Spa Village with indoor and outdoor treatment rooms will also begin simultaneously.

The massive redevelopment exercise will cost Malaysian Ringgit 35 million and will see many additional features added to the property.

Located just 20 minutes from the capital city, Kuching and the international airport, the property is situated right next the award-winning Sarawak Cultural Village. Damai Puri Resort & Spa is a distinctive and premier destionation resort where guests enjoy close proximity to rainforests and promises a tranquil environment of spacious, well-appointed rooms in addition to a wide variety of resort amenities and activities delivered with personalized, friendly service.

Upon completion, the new resort will include a branded and luxurious spa complete with a specialty tea house, two swimming pools with stunning ocean, rainforest and sunset views, jungle trails and facilities for water sports. In addition, guests can enjoy snorkeling at a nearby island, take a boat ride to Bako National Park which is home to proboscis monkey. Golfing enthusiasts can tee-off at the world-class gold course designed by Arnold Palmer that is situated just 10 minutes away.

When completed the resort's room categories will include Deluxe, Premier, Executive Premier, 1 and 2 bedrooms suites with balcony jacuzzis. The Damai Puri Club Floor will be an exciting addition to the overall rebranding exercise. In addition, stellar meeting venues, a grand ballroom, a three D theatre and versatile event facilities offer the perfect backdrop for weddings, receptions and honeymoons.

The resort will be managed by experienced hospitality players who have been in the industry for more than 20 years and gained valuable experience in the international arena. They include Managing Director Karel Schrijvers and General Manger Fritz J Klug. Together with their team, they will be working with Sarawak Tourism Board and the relevant authorities to facilitate increased tourist arrivals to the State.
