KUCHING: Sarawak's homestay programme looks set to draw more visitors following the launch of its website and directory.
State Urban Development and Tourism Minister Datuk Wong Soon Koh said that with the website, homestay operators could promote and market their packages online.
"Visitors can make online bookings and plan their journey to reach the homestay of their choice," he said when launching the website and directory at the Sarawak Tourism complex here yesterday.
Wong added that his ministry was working hard to create awareness on the importance of using information and communication technology to promote homestay services.
There are currently 118 registered homestay operators in 12 villages in the state, with 15 more applications being processed.
Wong said that the federal Tourism Ministry had allocated RM2.4mil to upgrade homestay facilities in Sarawak.
