Headhunter's Trail

To enter or leave Gunung Mulu National Park, follow the Headhunter's Trail. You can arrange with travel operators to include in your trip an upriver travel, jungle trekking and an overnight stay at an Iban longhouse. This trail emerges, as the Kayan headhunting parties paddled up the Melinau River to the Gorge where they began headhunting raids against the people of Limbang at that time.

The Headhunter's Trail can also be done in reverse, starting from Limbang and ending up at the park HQ. Either way the trek offers an excellent introduction to the rivers and rainforest of Mulu and the added attraction of a longhouse visit. The trek also includes an overnight stay as most tour operators offer the option of climbing the Pinnacles.

Locations:

- Gunung Mulu National Park

Adventure Caving

Adventure caving can be a whole load of fun. An expedition at Mulu for instance, often involves wading across rivers or streams, swimming through underground rivers, squeezing in between rocks and crevices, and, of course, getting covered in mud! Some of Mulu's caving trips require knowledge of abseiling and climbing.

Most popular caves have been equipped with fixed ropes on short descents, climbs and traverses and climbing ropes. Anyone planning to do a series of adventure caving trips is advised to bring their own equipment.

- Benarat Caverns
- Clearwater Cave
