Six international bands have been confirmed for the upcoming third Miri International Jazz Festival, slated for May 11 and 12. It will be held at Park City Everley Hotel in Sarawak.

Among the participating bands are The Dirty Dozen Brass Band (New Orleans, USA), Habana Sax (Cuba), KCP4 (Germany/India), George WashingMachine Quartet (Australia/ Britain/France), Orak Naa Naa (Morocco/ Germany) and Lluis Coloma (Spain).

Organisers have confirmed that the same successful formula of last year, which had an array of international and regionally renowned musicians playing contrasting genres of jazz music, will be repeated this year.

Orak Naa Naa from Morocco

Last year, the eight groups of performers came from Britain, Spain, China, the Netherlands, Benin, South Korea, France, Singapore and Sarawak.

This 2007 edition will be the Sarawak Tourism Board’s contribution to Visit Malaysia Year 2007, Celebrating 50 Years of Nationhood campaign.

Tickets are priced at RM50 for a one-night pass and RM90 for a two-night pass. Children below 12 will be charged RM25 and RM45, respectively. Get your festival tickets online at www.ticketcharge.com.my or call the hotline at 03-22419999/fax: 03-22849669.
