KUALA LUMPUR, Saturday: Sarawak once again participated at the annual MATTA Fair which is currently being held at the PWTC, here until March 17.
Sarawak features its promotion of adventure lifestyle holiday packages covering wildlife safari, adventure caving, ethnic longhouse tour, jungle resort to beach resort holidays with the element of culture, adventure and various nature based experience.
The Sarawak booth located at Hall 3 at the PWTC is shared by tour operators and hoteliers mainly from Kuching, Miri and Sibu promoting many attractive packages at unbelievable prices.
Sarawak packages features from as low as RM160 per person for 3-days 2-nights inclusive of airport transfers and also various tours in Sibu, Food and Culture packages at only RM432 in Kuching city, as well as adventure in Miri and Mulu National Park offers at a very attractive prices.
Sarawak heavily features its varied adventure attractions, in line with the tagline of ‘Sarawak, Where Adventure Lives’, and among others featuring its iconic musical event, the Rainforest World Music Festival which will be held on 28-30 June 2013.
This annual tourism event has recently been awarded the ‘25 of the Best International Festivals for 2013’ and for the past four consecutive years by the renown world music magazine, Songlines, based in UK.
Another upcoming event, the Borneo Jazz to be held on May 10-11 in Miri, is also being featured.
The inaugural Borneo World Music Expo (BWME) that fill the new slot of tourism event this year and will be held on 26-28 June. This event caters for professionals and trade visitors within the international music scene.
Various new events are being created in line with the Board’s transformation strategy to climb the value chain from leisure based to that of tourism events.
Other added emphasis is the concept of adventure product experiences such as the destinations’ exotic flora and fauna, the National Parks and the World Heritage Site of Mulu National Park, which is also Sarawak’s best selling point.
Sarawak also has diverse culture to showcase notably the “Gawai” or Harvest Festival with special packages featuring food, music and dances of the various ethnic tribes in the State Sarawak has recorded an increase of 7.2% increase in visitors’ arrival last year to touch the 4.07 million mark with foreign arrivals alone saw an increase of 12.4% accounting to a 2.6 million arrivals.
